This nativity was made by a member of a cooperative group in Bethlehem that strives to alleviate local poverty, decreasing unemployment and levels of emigration by keeping alive a traditional craft industry that has been in steep decline in recent years. As a member of the World Fair Trade Association (WFTO), the cooperative is based on the recognised principles of Fair Trade and today directly benefits over 900 individuals in the region.
